The 2005 Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate, who is the founder and design principal of Morphosis, an interdisciplinary and collective architectural practice in Los Angeles, received an honorary doctor of humane letters. “Aim to keep your creativity alive and remember, no one else will ever be you,” Mayne said. NJIT also awarded honorary doctorates to Norman Li, PhD, president of NL Chemical Technology Inc. in Illinois, and longtime Newark historian Elizabeth Del Tufo.

Paul Manganaro, who has restored almost 500 music machines to date and enjoys a national reputation for expertise in his craft, demonstrated the process of a typical restoration at the seminar.

NJIT will offer master's-degree courses in engineering management and computer information sciences at the county college's Rohrer Center, in Cherry Hill. NJIT aims to also offer bachelor's degree programs and other courses from CCC's campuses in Blackwood and Camden. Those programs and courses could be offered as early as the spring semester of 2005, and will allow students to earn NJIT degrees without attending the NJIT campus in Newark.
