NJIT Women's Soccer Team Tops Saint Peter's in 2-1 Road Win

NJIT newcomers Camille Billing and Amanda Redden collected their first college goals, lifting the Highlanders to their first women’s soccer victory of 2010, a 2-1 win at Saint Peter’s Sunday afternoon. The Highlanders (1-1) also got the first college assist from freshman Rebecca Tustin, who helped out on Billing’s goal, in taking the road win.

Eccles will discuss how to encourage women to choose careers in science and technology plus understand and overcome barriers.

Women's Tennis Team Nearly Sweeps Pace in 8-1 Win

The NJIT women's tennis team, ranked ninth regionally, earned an 8-1 victory over visiting Pace University on Saturday night at the Tenafly Racquet Club. The top five singles players for NJIT (6-2) were all double winners: Fatima Kasem, Chiori Koike, Deepti Sanjai, Rebecca Solorzano and Grace Bogdan.

New Partnership to Benefit NJIT Students and Newark Community

Local nonprofit organizations in and around Newark will benefit from an increased number of NJIT students who volunteer technology assistance through a new partnership announced this week by the Division of Career Development Services’ Civic Engagement Computer Center (CECC) and the College of Computing Sciences’ Senior Capstone Course. “This partnership enables us to sustain an increased number of project teams needed to advance the work of the Center,” said Gregory Mass, Executive Director, Career Development Services. Through the Civic Engagement Computer Center @ NJIT, students work in project teams to design websites, databases, and other technical support projects for several community organizations including most recently the Newark Literacy Campaign and the NJ All-City Hoops. Students enrolled in the Senior Capstone Course will be assigned to the CECC to facilitate community-based projects for nonprofits.

New Jersey Institute of Technology Hosts Free Public Concert

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) will host a free public concert on Dec. 8 featuring musical groups from NJIT, Rutgers-Newark, Essex County College and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). The concert is scheduled for 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. in the Jim Wise Theatre at NJIT’s Kupfrian Hall, just north of the intersection of Warren and Summit Streets. The concert is open to the public and parking is available.
