Biomed Innovations, Architecture, Nano Carbons Take Top Honors at NJIT Research Day

From exciting architectural plans for the August 2013 Chinese Solar Decathlon to a better hospital rating system, six student research projects recently captured the imagination of judges at the 2013 NJIT Dana Knox Student Research Showcase, held last week on April 17, 2013. Seventy-two graduate and undergraduate students participated.

NJIT Dean of Graduate Studies To Moderate Faculty Panel Discussion on Nov. 11

NJIT Dean of Graduate Studies Ronald Kane will moderate a faculty panel representative of the colleges and schools at NJIT at the third edition of the popular panel discussion, "One Day in the Life of a Professor/Careers in Academe" on Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. in Eberhardt Hall Room 112. NJIT Dean of Graduate Studies Ronald Kane will moderate a faculty panel representative of the colleges and schools at NJIT. They include: Cristian Borcea, department of computer science, Joseph Bozzelli, department of chemistry and environmental science, Zhiming Ji, department of mechanical and industrial engineering, and Marguerite Schneider, School of Management, who will discuss academic careers and share their experiences in a program aimed at graduate students.

Rita Thornton, a Ditchdigger’s Daughter, To Receive a Doctorate from NJIT

Anyone who has seen the award-winning film The Ditchdigger’s Daughter will know the story of Rita Thornton. When she was a child, her father, who worked as a ditchdigger, wanted all six of his daughters to become doctors. Back then, her father’s dream seemed farfetched. But next week, during NJIT’s spring commencement, Thornton will fulfill her father’s dream.
