NJIT Civil Engineers Tackle Hackensack River Flood Waters With $289,000 DEP Grant http://www.njit.edu/news/2013/2013-291.php http://www.njit.edu/news/2013/2013-291.phpTue, 17 Sep 2013 00:00:00 -0400 The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has awarded NJIT a $289,000 grant to investigate alternative measures for flood mitigation in the Hackensack/Moonachie/Little Ferry area.  The effort will enhance rather than duplicate any on-going efforts by the US Army Corps of Engineers and other organizations.  NJIT's newest center, the Flood Mitigation Engineering Resource Center will handle the work.

The plans also included creating a community service program and financial plan for Head Start administrators so that the project had a better chance of proceeding.
