NJIT Professor Appointed to National Research Council http://www.njit.edu/news/2013/2013-274.php http://www.njit.edu/news/2013/2013-274.phpTue, 27 Aug 2013 00:00:00 -0400 NJIT Professor Michel Boufadel has been appointed a member of a National Research Council (of the National Academies) committee on the Effective Daily Recovery Capacity.  The appointment is through Nov. 14, 2013.  The task includes providing guidelines on the best techniques for skimming oil off the ocean surface following spills.  Such guidelines are important for preparedness of regions regarding oil spills.

NJIT Civil Engineer Receives NSF Grant To Study Storm's Impact on Jersey Shore http://www.njit.edu/news/2012/2012-385.php http://www.njit.edu/news/2012/2012-385.phpMon, 19 Nov 2012 00:00:00 -0500 A few days after Hurricane Sandy hit, NJIT Professor Michel Boufadel was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to study the impact of the storm on the New Jersey shoreline.  The NSF Rapid Response Research Grant immediately allowed him to take a team of eight researchers to the beaches of Raritan Bay.

His lecture will focus on developing an urban and industrial infrastructure that balances ecological concerns with economic growth.Hershkowitz's lecture is scheduled for Nov. 9, 3-4:30 p.m., second floor of the NJIT campus center ballroom. The campus center is located south of the intersection of Summit Street and Central Avenue. The lecture is free, open to the public and parking is available.
