She participated in the Pre-Engineering Program (PrEP) at NJIT, a five-week program designed to provide academically talented post-sixth grade students with an introduction to mechanical engineering that will hopefully propel them toward math and science careers.

New Jersey Institute of Technology Announces Summer Program http://www.njit.edu/news/2005/2005-080.php http://www.njit.edu/news/2005/2005-080.phpFri, 04 Mar 2005 00:00:00 -0500 NJIT's Center for Pre-college Programs will sponsor summer workshops to encourage students--many of whom are girls and minorities--from post-fourth to post-11th grades to pursue education in science, math and engineering. The workshops run from four to six weeks, and begin either in late June or early July. Applications are due April 8 and can be obtained by calling 973-596-3550 or by visiting the center’s website.
