Students Win Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge Contests

It was a clean sweep: Over the weekend NJIT students won the regional steel bridge contest as well as the concrete canoe contest. This marks the second year in a row that NJIT has won both contests.

K-12 Outreach Proposal Grant Awarded to the Society of Women Engineers

The NJIT Newark College of Engineering (NCE) will hold its 15th annual Salute to Engineering Excellence on April 16, 2013 in the NJIT Campus Center Atrium. The event will celebrate the 94th anniversary of NCE, NJIT’s flagship institution. Honorees, who hail mostly from New Jersey, will include nine students, seven faculty and staff and two alumni with notable careers in technology and engineering.

Kyle Devitt, Andre Moses and Hagop Bouchakjiane (shown here with NJIT Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Special Lecturer Harry Kountouras and Professor Bernard Koplik) have been awarded 2010 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Clarke Scholarships. NJIT has won the award five times in the last six years. The scholarship is awarded nationally based on a competitive proposal; six are awarded at $6,000 per winning university.

The NJIT Student Society of Construction Contractors participated in the 21st Annual District 1 Associated Schools of Construction Estimating Competition last month at the Governor Morris Inn in Morristown. The NJIT team, comprised of Christian Kleban, Derek McClung, Ian Cooper, Eric DeCola, Jhonathan Ocampo and David Kwesalait, competed in the Commercial Construction Division, which required an estimate of an addition to an educational facility.
