NJIT’s Board of Trustees has approved a 3 percent tuition increase for the upcoming 2009-2010 academic year for both in and out-of-state students starting this fall. About 95 percent of NJIT’s full-time undergraduates pay in-state tuition.
Philip Rinaldi '68, founder and former chief executive officer of Coffeyville Resources and a member of the NJIT Board of Overseers, hosted a dinner cruise around Manhattan for 38 guests on June 5 aboard his one-of-a-kind yacht, the Vivere. The cruise was a silent auction offering at NJIT's Celebration 2007. In addition to the Rinaldis’ generosity, the NJIT Board of Overseers and NJIT Board of Trustees members who signed on for the cruise donated more than $10,800 to NJIT. As per Phil’s request, this amount will be equally divided in support of scholarships at the New Jersey School of Architecture, Newark College of Engineering, and the College of Science and Liberal Arts.

Newark Mayor Cory A. Booker was the guest master of ceremonies at NJIT’s Celebration 2007 at the Somerset Palace. Celebration is NJIT’s annual black-tie event.
New Jersey Institute of Technology's Board of Trustees approved today a 7 percent tuition and fee increase for the upcoming 2006-2007 academic year, starting this fall. The commitment of the trustees to minimize the impact of tuition costs on its students resulted in bringing the increases below the state cap of 8 percent. “NJIT’s value proposition is that we provide an affordable education for the technological professions—and we work hard to deliver on that promise,” said NJIT President Robert A. Altenkirch.

Elizabeth Garcia, public affairs manager for Infineum, has joined the NJIT Board of Trustees. “Liz is an NJIT-trained engineer whose work in the petroleum and petrochemical industry involved engineering, finance and now public affairs,” said NJIT President Robert A. Altenkirch. “I’m delighted that she will bring her enormous range of talent and experience to our Board and help guide NJIT to its next level of achievement.”

The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Board of Trustees has elected its first female chairperson, Kathleen Wielkopolski, Chester. Wielkopolski is executive vice president and chief financial strategy officer of the Gale Company, Florham Park. Serving as co-vice chair will be attorney James M. Burns, Middletown. Burns, a specialist in management labor law, is a founding partner of the Livingston law firm, Genova, Burns & Vernoia. Serving as the other co-vice chair of the board will be Stephen DePalma, chief executive officer and chairman of Schoor DePalma Inc, Manalapan, and an alumnus of NJIT. Attending his first meeting this November as a member of the Board was civil engineer David J. Samuel, Sayreville, an NJIT alumnus and a managing partner in the engineering firm CME Associates, Parlin, who joined the board Oct. 25, 2004.
NJIT President Robert A. Altenkirch was named Chairman of the Board of Trustees for University Heights Science Park. The Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing and guiding the development of the 50-acre mixed-use park in Newark’s Central Ward.

Stephen DePalma, CEO and chairman of DePalma, Inc., Manalapan, and an alumnus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) was recently elected to serve as co-vice chair of the NJIT Board of Trustees. De Palma previously served on the NJIT Board of Overseers.

New Jersey Institute of Technology's (NJIT) Board of Trustees approved a $287 per semester tuition increase for all full-time undergraduate students for the upcoming 2003-2004 academic year, starting this fall. In-state undergraduate students will pay $3,666 per semester, or an increase of 8.5 percent. In-state, full-time graduate students will pay a $495 per semester tuition increase of 8.5 percent. That amount will total $4,810 per semester.
