NJIT Professor Michel Boufadel has been appointed a member of a National Research Council (of the National Academies) committee on the Effective Daily Recovery Capacity. The appointment is through Nov. 14, 2013. The task includes providing guidelines on the best techniques for skimming oil off the ocean surface following spills. Such guidelines are important for preparedness of regions regarding oil spills.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force teamed up to host the Hurricane Sandy Small Business Recovery and Matchmaking Summit on Aug. 7 at NJIT. The event, first of its kind in the region since the disaster, educated and connected small businesses to commercial buyers from the private sector and federal, state and local governments.

Bloom today joined 164 other university presidents and chancellors in calling on leaders in Washington to close what they call the innovation deficit.
