NJIT senior catcher Phil Resciniti was recently named an all-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II baseball honoree. The all-ECAC team consists of just 12 players selected by a coaches' vote from the more than 40 Division II baseball-playing members of the ECAC. Resciniti hit .361 with 11 doubles, four homers, 28 runs and 33 RBI in leading the Highlanders to their first winning season since 1995. >>
Junior pitcher Chris Legiadre (at left) and senior catcher Phil Resciniti were named Division II Second Team All-Northeast Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. For the second consecutive year, the NJIT baseball team has been selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Championship. The Highlanders (22-18) are the No. 2 seed in the two-team event. NJIT, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) 2005 regular-season champions, will play a best-of-three series against top seed and tournament host Dominican (N.Y.) College, the CACC Tournament champion. Games 1 and 2 will be played on Friday, May 20, as a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Orangeburg, N.Y. The NJIT women's basketball team has been selected to the 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Championship as the No. 3 seed-- the first time in program history that NJIT has earned a postseason berth beyond the conference tournament level. NJIT sophomore Kelly Crowe has been named to the All-Tournament Team of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Tournament. The announcement was made following Saturday evening's championship game at Caldwell College. >>
