Meet Gloria Portocarrero: Honors Student, Educational Opportunity Program Grad, Sorority President

Gloria Portocarrero, of Union City, receives her bachelor of science in biomedical engineering from NJIT at the Prudential Center this Saturday at 9 a.m. She’ll walk at the head of her class—an Albert Dorman Honors College scholar who’s accepted into a master’s degree program for next fall in biomedical engineering.

Two McNair Scholars Honored at AMP Research Symposium

Two students enrolled in the Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program at NJIT received Excellence in Engineering Awards at the 11th Annual Philadelphia Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP) Research Symposium on April 5. Silvana Ortiz (at left), a junior majoring in chemical engineering, placed second and Gloria Portocarrero, a senior majoring in biomedical engineering, placed third. In addition, Gloria will receive The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement 2008 Scholarship Award at the annual conference awards banquet on May 8, 2008 in El San Juan, Puerto Rico. >>
