The History of 3D Film: Starring Newark and New York will be the first 2012 featured lecture this fall of the NJIT Technology and Society Forum presentations. The Emmy-nominated, award-winning Newark filmmakers Marylou and Jerome Bongiorno will screen and discuss their short 3D films on Newark and the Brooklyn waterfront on Oct. 3 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom.  >>

Jon Curley, university lecturer in the Humanities Department at NJIT, has just published Poets and Partitions: Confronting Communal Identities in Northern Ireland, a comprehensive analysis of Northern Irish poetry focusing on the colonial, political, and cultural underpinnings that have shaped artistic expression in a variety of ways.  >>

Jon Curley, of Jersey City, and Burt Kimmelman (at left), of Maplewood, associate professor and professor, respectively, in NJIT's Department of Humanities, will participate in a poetry reading presented by the William Carlos Williams Poetry Cooperative on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford.    >>

NJIT Humanities Lecturer Jon Curley and Architecture Associate Professor Tony Schuman will join Newark-based filmmakers Marylou Tibaldo-Bongiorno and Jerome Bongiorno for a panel discussion about making the film New Work: Newark in 3D on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Newark Museum. Curley wrote and recorded the poems that accompany the film, which is being shown in tandem with the 1920 avant-garde film Manhatta and will become a permanent part of the museum's permanent collection. >>
