Cirincione Recommends New Nuclear Nonproliferation Strategy at NJIT’s Technology and Society Forum

The U.S. has followed a policy of eliminating regimes that it believes either possess or seek to possess weapons of mass destruction, rather than eliminating the weapons, Joseph Cirincione told the more than 200 faculty, staff, students and friends of NJIT who attended the first of the Spring 2005 Technology and Society Forum series yesterday. Cirincione, an internationally-known weapons of mass destruction expert and a director at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, recommended a new, efficient strategy of universal compliance. “The answer is not to enforce the rules for some, but to enforce the rules for all,” he said. >>

Weapons of mass destruction expert Joseph Cirincione, a director at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, will explore the nature of nuclear proliferation and how to reduce it during the Feb. 7 technology forum sponsored by NJIT.
