Mary Beth Rosson, PhD, professor of technology and information science at Penn State University, spoke at NJIT warning of web software problems and calling for better tools to combat it. Rosson pointed to a $1.2 billion spreadsheet error at Fannie Mae that was caused by an amateur web developer. Such software development has its opportunities, but also needs improved methods to rein in problems, Rosson said. >>

Computer software to better monitor emergencies and disasters, plus tips on using computer languages like JAVA, will be the focus of two mid-day lectures on Sept. 26 at NJIT. The public is invited to both events.
