Essex County College President A. Zachary Yamba, EdD delivered the keynote address yesterday at the annual University Convocation, which recognized faculty, staff and student accomplishments. Yamba, who was one of the early founders of a partnership that has enabled ECC and NJIT, Rutgers-Newark and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey to collaborate on numerous collegiate and community initiatives in the city's University Heights district, discussed the role of education in the revitalization of Newark. "Newark is our home–and home to many of our students," said Yamba. "We must be active participants in the unfolding of its future." >>

The students were in town for a seminar about policymaking presented by The Washington Campus, a consortium of business schools of 16 universities that educates graduate business students and executives of major U.S. and international corporations on the process of government. >>

"The Unique Works of Ujima's Collages," an exhibition by artist and NJIT employee Ujima Kuumba Majied, is on display Feb. 20-28 in NJIT's Campus Center Gallery. A Black History Month art exhibition reception was held on Feb. 23 in the gallery.  >>

 In spring of 2004, NJIT hand-tailored an on-site Executive MBA program for employees at Stryker Orthopaedics of Mahwah, NJ. Now, a year and a half later, the first two Stryker employees have completed the program and will receive NJIT diplomas in January. >>
