The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has reaffirmed NJIT’s accreditation for the next decade. According to the report, “NJIT is making a disproportionate impact in higher education given its means. In particular, NJIT is providing an admirable service to first-in-family students attending college. The students are excellent, well trained, and graduates are highly successful after leaving the university. Book Co-Authored by History Professor To Receive AAP/PSP AwardStephen Pemberton, PhD, an assistant professor in the federated department of history, has won the 2006 Association of American Publishers award in the History of Science category for his book The Troubled Dream of Genetic Medicine: Ethnicity and Innovation in Tay-Sachs, Cystic Fibrosis, and Sickle Cell Anemia (Johns Hopkins University Press). Witte Award for Excellence in Writing Assessment Scholarship for his book On A Scale: A Social History of Writing Assessment (New York: Peter Lang, 2005). Instituted last year, the Witte Award is given on annual basis by the Journal of Writing Assessment. >>

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has been asked by Educational Testing Service (ETS) to join its prestigious advisory committee focused on literacy assessment. The committee was established in 2003 to ensure the test’s initial development. Now that the test is available, the committee serves in a consultative role. >>
