Papageorgiou Elected Fellow of Mathematics Institute
Demetrios Papageorgiou, director of graduate programs in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, has been elected a fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. He has also been awarded the Chartered Mathematician designation by the Institute.
Goodman Receives NSF Grant
Roy Goodman, assistant professor of mathematical sciences, will use an $85,000 NSF grant to advance investigation of mathematical methods for nonlinear wave applications.
Schachter Inducted Into Pi Alpha Alpha
Hindy Lauer Schachter, professor of management, has been inducted as an honorary member of Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for public affairs and administration that recognizes outstanding scholarship and accomplishment in these fields.
Mathematical Sciences Professor Receives NSF Grant
Richard Moore, assistant professor of mathematical sciences, has received an NSF grant of nearly $100,000 for research involving spectroscopic applications that include the detection of environmentally harmful agents or chemical weapons, and for military countermeasures such as the jamming of infrared-based missile guidance systems.
Shih To Guest Edit International Journal of Wireless Communications
