Recent NJIT Graduate Receives Top Awards for Academic Excellence and Sports at NJIT Convocation

Robert A. Herrera, a recent NJIT graduate, received a Presidential Leadership Award during NJIT’s recent convocation ceremony. The award recognizes students who have shown a deep commitment to NJIT. >>

Six NJIT student-athletes were named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars in the May 29, 2008 issue of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. They are: Angelica Sepulveda, civil engineering major, soccer (second team); Isha Toor, business major, tennis (first team); Robert Herrera, architecture major, soccer (first team); Kevin Blanco, business major, soccer (second team); Rodrigo Correa, business major, volleyball; and Leonardo Paludo, business major, volleyball. Diverse: Issues In Higher Education established the Sports Scholars Awards to honor undergraduate students of color who have made achieving both academically and athletically a winning combination. >>

NJIT Students Named 2007 Arthur Ashe Sports ScholarsSix NJIT student-athletes were named 2007 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars in the April 5, 2007 edition of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. They are: Felicia Amaechi, biomedical engineering major, fencing; Aileen Davila, management major, Third Team, track and field; Robert Herrera, architecture major, Second Team, soccer; Rafael Barrera, Jr., management major, 3rd Team, soccer; Babatunde Busari, mechanical engineering and math double major, 2nd Team, track and field; and Leonardo Paludo, management major, volleyball.Four Highlanders Receive Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Academic HonorsNJIT men's volleyball athletes Rodrigo Correa, Leonardo Paludo, Greg Wagner and Eduardo Welter were named to the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association all-Academic team for 2007. In order to be eligible for the honor, student-athletes needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 or higher, have reached at least sophomore athletic standing and participated in at least 60 percent of the games played. >>
