NJIT swimmers Pablo Botero, Andrew Helbers, Michael Lawson, James Paccioretti and Karen Cilento were named to the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Conference All-Academic team for the 2008-2009 season.

NJIT senior Hayk Ekshian led the way for the Highlanders picking up two individual wins and a season-best time in the 50-free as visiting NJIT edged St. Francis (NY), 94-90, recording its first win of the season Saturday afternoon.

Record-setting swimmer and scholar-athlete Ana Ossa will represent NJIT as part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Feb. 11 at Seton Hall.

The NJIT men's swimming team swam past Queens (NY), 88-65 Friday night at the Estelle and Zoom Fleisher Athletic Center. NJIT collected nine first-place finishes on the night, posting wins in the 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Marc Ubaldi set a new school record in the 100-yard freestyle and the NJIT mens' swimming team captured a 78-49 win over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Wednesday night.

A last-minute invitation to the William McCarthy Memorial Meet at the New York Athletic Club provided Ana Ossa a chance to further her hold on the NJIT record book. Ossa earned victories in both the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke events, breaking her school record in the shorter race.
The NJIT men's swimming team registered a 112-86 win over visiting Stevens Institute of Technology last night. Juniors Hayk Ekshian and Marc Ubaldi set new school records in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley, respectively.
The NJIT men's swimming team opened its season with a 103-90 win at Baruch College on Friday night. NJIT collected seven first-place finishes, posting wins in the 800 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle and breaststroke.
Junior Ana Ossa, a member of the women's swim team, has earned NJIT's Woman of the Year award from the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW).  In 2004-05, Ossa set 10 school women's swimming records and now holds or shares 20 of the 23 NJIT records. 
A total of 17 NJIT school swimming records were broken over the weekend at the Metropolitan Conference championships at Rutgers University. Additionally, a Highlander reached the finals (top 24) of eight individual events. As a team, the NJIT men finished 14th of 17 teams, one place better than last season, while the women's team paced 15th out of 21 schools.

The NJIT swim teams ended their fall semester schedules with victories over host Mount St. Mary College earlier this week. The Highlander men earned an 83-52 victory, while the women won, 92-66.
