The Albert Dorman Honors College celebrated its 10th anniversary by recognizing some of the prominent people who have made the college one of the best in the state. “Many of the alumni of the college, who are here today, are proof that the experiment we proposed 10 years ago works,” said Albert Dorman '45, after whom the college is named. >>

A group of 21 Albert Dorman Honors College (ADHC) scholars visited Washington, DC on June 15-16, 2005 at the special invitation of Congressman Donald M. Payne. In addition to touring the nation's capital, the students gained insight into the workings of the federal government and learned about career opportunities in the government sector. Senator John E. NJIT bestowed 1,821 degrees during the 2005 commencement ceremony yesterday, held for the first time at the Continental Airlines Arena, East Rutherford. The university gave an honorary degree to Arthur F. Ryan, chairman and chief executive officer of Prudential Financial, Inc., who delivered the keynote address.  “Achieving your life dreams does not happen overnight,” said Ryan. “But making it to graduation didn’t happen overnight either. Biren Bhatt is the kind of student who makes a parent proud, a professor happy and the community in which he lives a better place. Bhatt will graduate from NJIT on May 26 having already finished a year of medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is to graduate from NJIT’s Albert Dorman Honors College with a perfect cumulative grade-point average of 4.0 and a host of academic honors. >>

Rivka Stone, a senior at Albert Dorman Honors College, will graduate from NJIT on May 26 with a perfect cumulative grade-point average of 4.0. In the fall, Stone, 21, will start medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She was accepted, on full scholarship, into the university’s accelerated MD/PhD program. A biomedical engineering major, she won an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from NJIT's biomedical engineering department. >>

The Albert Dorman Honors College has received a $10,000 grant from the Guidant Foundation that will fund student-research internships in the applied life sciences at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). >>

Walter L. Douglas, Jr., East Orange, has been appointed director of development in the Office of University Advancement at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).  Douglas will be responsible for fund-raising activities for the Albert Dorman Honors College at NJIT and selected research centers. >>
