Thipnakarin Boomfueng (at left), a PhD student in environmental engineering, presented the results of her research project at the Provost's Student Research Day event on April 13, 2005 in the NJIT Campus Center. Her poster presentation was one of 47 undergraduate and graduate student research projects on display representing a wide array of fields and topics including biomedical and pharmaceutical engineering; telecommunications and signal processing; solar research; and nanotechnology. "The students whose work was chosen for today's event should be congratulated for the quality and effectiveness of their work," said Urs Gauchat, interim provost. "The often spectacular efforts make one believe that the future of research is in good hands. It also reinforces the belief that NJIT provides a fertile environment for creative endeavors." >>

More than 40 undergraduate and graduate students will unveil the results of their research projects on April 13, 2005, when NJIT hosts Provost's Student Research Day, 1-5 p.m. in the Campus Center Atrium. The students' research spans a wide array of fields and topics including biomedical and pharmaceutical engineering; telecommunications and signal processing; solar research; and nanoparticles, nanostructures and nanotechnology. A Provost Fellowship that will offer partial scholarships to students admitted for full-time study in master's degree programs is now available at NJIT. To be considered for the fellowship, master's students must have earned bachelor's degrees with cumulative GPAs of at least 3.0 and also submit results of the GRE or GMAT standardized graduate admissions tests. NJIT has announced the appointment of civil engineer and natural disaster specialist Priscilla Nelson, PhD, to the position of provost. Nelson, a senior executive at the National Science Foundation and a former University of Texas professor, is internationally recognized for achievements in engineering research and education, and her service in leadership roles and professional societies. >>
Joel S. Bloom, interim provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at NJIT, was appointed chair of the Council on Student Affairs of the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC). “We are very happy that Joel Bloom will be taking on the leadership of our Council on Student Affairs at this time of great challenges to higher education and to the students that our public universities serve,” said C.
