The NJIT men's swimming team opened its season with a 103-90 win at Baruch College on Friday night. NJIT collected seven first-place finishes, posting wins in the 800 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle and breaststroke. >>
Junior Ana Ossa, a member of the women's swim team, has earned NJIT's Woman of the Year award from the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW).  In 2004-05, Ossa set 10 school women's swimming records and now holds or shares 20 of the 23 NJIT records.  >>
A total of 17 NJIT school swimming records were broken over the weekend at the Metropolitan Conference championships at Rutgers University. Additionally, a Highlander reached the finals (top 24) of eight individual events. As a team, the NJIT men finished 14th of 17 teams, one place better than last season, while the women's team paced 15th out of 21 schools. >>
