College of Architecture and Design To Host AIANJ Material Evidence Symposium on Oct. 28

A series of noted architects and educators will discuss their work as material evidence of emerging forms of contemporary design practice, the various technologies being used, and to what end they are being applied at the AIANJ Material Evidence Symposium on Oct. 28, 1:15-7 p.m. in NJIT's College of Architecture and Design. The symposium is a public forum for discussion and debate on the changing status of technology in architectural practice and emerging potentials for its role in the design of our built environment. NJIT Graduate Student Takes First Place in AIAA Competition

Priya Santhanam, a graduate student in the Otto H. York Department of Chemical, Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering at NJIT, took first place in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Region I-NE Student Conference for master's-level students held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Her award comes with a $500 cash prize and an invitation to attend (all expenses paid) the national AIAA conference to be held in January 2010 in Orlando, Florida. Priya's paper is based on her MS thesis work at NJIT; she is now applying to the PhD program.

Architect Stephen Kieran To Speak at Evening Lecture Series

Stephen Kieran, FAIA, of KieranTimberlake in Philadelphia, will discuss "Five Dwellings: Nothing, Little, More, Much More, More than Enough" on April 16 at 5:45 p.m. in the Weston Lecture Hall at NJIT's College of Architecture and Design. The AIANJ Endowed Lecture is free and open to the public.
