NJIT Business Professor Forecasts 2014 Economic Outlook at Chicago Fed Board Symposium

Economic growth will rise to 3.1 percent in 2014, while unemployment will fall to 6.9 percent by December of 2014, NJIT Leir Research Professor William V. Rapp, PhD told economists and others last week at the 27th Annual Economic Outlook Symposium sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

He added that “we collectively” need to continue to raise the awareness of the numerous opportunities in this industry and change the public's perception of manufacturing. Today's 17,000 New Jersey manufacturers are technology driven and meet the needs of niche markets ranging from hat makers to medical devices.

Wirths, commissioner of the NJ Department of Labor & Workforce Development (NJLWD), will recognize the important contributions of advanced manufacturing to the Garden State economy as he kicks off ManufactureNJ Week beginning tomorrow, October 4 at NJIT's Campus Center in Newark from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Governor Chris Christie issued a proclamation declaring October 7-11, 2013 as ManufactureNJ Week and stating that advanced manufacturing is one of the seven priority industry clusters in the state.

NJIT Sets Undergraduate Tuition and Fees for Fall 2013

The NJIT Board of Trustees has approved a 3.2 percent or $239 per semester tuition and mandatory fee increase for in-state undergraduate students for the 2013-2014 academic year. Total annual tuition and mandatory fees for full-time in-state students will be $15,218 for 2013-2014. Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students for the 2013-2014 academic year will increase by 4.2 percent to $28,274.
