As a technological university, NJIT serves as an important conduit for technology. The Mission of The Office of Technology Development (OTD) is to promote and facilitate the commercialization of research results through technology licensing and sponsored research activities in a manner consistent with the teaching, public policy and economic development objectives of the university. Creating strong partnerships with industry and government is critical in successfully translating innovations to the marketplace. The office manages intellectual property elements across the entire research continuum.
Key functions include the management of technology disclosures including the identification, evaluation and protection of inventions, transfer of technology through licensing and other commercialization activities. We also maintain oversight over confidentiality and industrial sponsored research agreements.
