Greek Life

New Jersey Institute of Technology's fraternities and sororities are an integral part of campus life and the Newark community. NJIT is committed to the ideals and goals of these Greek chapters which reflect the highest aspirations of group involvement, and which contribute to the growth and educational development of NJIT's students. Membership into one of NJIT's fourteen fraternities and seven sororities can open the door to an exciting world of campus and community involvement.

Fraternities and sororities exist as proven support networks for students as they begin this new period in their lives. They can help personalize a student's experience in leading committees, managing budgets, and interacting with faculty and administrators. Students will be exposed to many new experiences and challenges that will enhance their overall educational development at NJIT.

While considered social organizations, fraternities and sororities offer much more to the campus. They place great emphasis on scholarship, leadership development, and community service. NJIT's Greek chapters have contributed thousands of dollars and hours to local and national philanthropies and organizations. Members of the Greek community have been recognized locally and regionally for efforts in community service.

Twelve fraternities are members of the National Interfraternity Conference; two are members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC); two fraternities and two sororities are members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and two fraternities and sororities are members of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO). Three chapters are local chapters .

The Interfraternity/Sorority Council ( IFSC ) is the governing body for all recognized Greek organizations at NJIT. They consist of representatives from member chapters, and serve as the central administrations, which govern and adjudicate the activities of these chapters. The IFSC also works to promote the highest degree of cooperation between the Greek community and the university.
