Summer Checklist

I’ve sent my deposit to NJIT, now what?”

Enjoy and Celebrate!

Let everyone know you're attending NJIT! We are excited that you'll be joining us this Fall!

Finances

Fall Tuition and Fee Bill

Your tuition and fee statement will be posted to your Highlander Pipeline account in early August. You can log into your pipeline account here: njit.edu/cp/login.php. If you are not paying your bill yourself, you are responsible for setting up “Authorized Payers.” See the NJIT Bursar's website for more information: njit.edu/bursar.

Financial Aid

Keep up-to-date on latest information about financial aid: njit.edu/financialaid.

Academic Essentials

Course Placement

Upon deposit, all first-year students will need to take the Math placement test starting in March. You will then be placed in GER (General Education Requirement) courses based on SAT/ACT scores, high school academic performance, your math placement test score, and curriculum requirements for specific majors.

Advanced Placement (AP) Course Credits

Make sure you have selected NJIT to receive all of your Advanced Placement Scores including any tests taken prior to your senior year. College level courses taken during high school requires submission of an official transcript.

Change of Major

If you were admitted to NJIT with a major you no longer wish to pursue, you must email changeofmajor@njit.edu by August 1 to have your request considered. However, after June, you will also need to attend a Schedule Change Day in addition to getting authorized for your change of major. More about Schedule Change Days can be found below.

Course Schedules

Course schedules are generated for all first-semester freshmen in July once AP credit is received. First-semester freshmen do not create their own schedules. Notification of your completed schedule will be sent out in August from the Registrar and posted on your Highlander Pipeline account.

Freshman Hold

All incoming first-year students have a Freshman Hold on their account. This hold prevents students from changing their schedule. The hold is replaced in the fall with an Advisor Hold so that students can register for classes after they meet with their advisor.

Schedule Changes

Schedule changes must be done at one of several Schedule Change Days in August. Changes to your schedule will only be considered if you have college credit that will advance you to a higher level course, if you have the authorization to change your major, or under consideration of special circumstances. Information on Schedule Change Days will be discussed at New Student Orientation and will be sent in an email after you attend NSO.

Purchase or Rent Textbooks in Advance

Students can order their textbooks online from our bookstore and have the books wrapped and ready for pick-up in the fall at njit.bkstr.com.
