Summer Freshman Orientation

Welcome to NJIT!  New Student Orientation (NSO) is our required, two-part orientation for incoming first year students, split into NSO 1.0 and 2.0. Both NSO 1.0 and 2.0 are designed to give you an amazing transition to college life at NJIT! Please register for orientation with the college of your major. If you cannot attend your college-specific dates, you will be permitted to register for the July or August programs. If you you will have 6 or more AP credits in Calculus, English, Physics, or Chemistry, we recommend attending on July 20-21, as we will receive AP exam scores by early July.

NSO 1.0

NSO 1.0 will provide an initial transition providing you with important connections and resources to be successful at NJIT. Here are some important points about NSO 1.0:

  • Two-day, overnight program
  • Check in to Cypress Residence Hall at 8:30 am on Day 1
  • Program will end by 3:00 pm on Day 2
  • Get acquainted with advisors, resources, and students
  • Register for classes
  • Explore the campus, make new friends, and have fun!
  • Invitations will be e-mailed out after you complete your placement test or submit AP Calculus credit
  • Religious obligations will be accommodated, including Ramadan fasting and prayer

Martin Tuchman School of Management (SoM) June 5-6
Out-of-State & International Students (all majors) August 29-30 (not an overnight program)

NSO 2.0

During NSO 2.0, you will experience a variety of meaningful programs and activities before the semester begins allowing incoming students to understand they belong to a larger educational and urban community. This continued orientation will give you an official welcome to the university, learn more about issues related to campus life, know the diverse resources at NJIT, and engage you in community service opportunities. NSO 2.0 will be on August 31 and September 1.
