Educational Talent Search Program

“On the Path to Higher Education”

The Educational Talent Search Program (ETS) is a federally funded program at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.  It is a Pre-College Program that identifies and assists students from Newark Public Schools to take an active interest in developing and pursuing academic, career and personal goals. It is the intent of the program to provide students with the necessary skills and motivation needed to achieve academic success, graduate from middle to high school, and eventually enter college or some form of post-secondary training.

What Can Talent Do For Me?

Our services at Talent Search include academic and personal counseling, tutoring, field trips, college tours, academic and social skills workshops, and career exploration.  At the heart of our program is our summer component, and our GEPA, HSPA, and SAT preparation classes.  These classes are designed to inform students of the importance of these exams, improve their scores, and ease some of the anxiety that accompanies the exams.  Students have the opportunity to work directly with their instructors on improving their specific weakness.  To supplement these classes there is the availability of computerized basic skills and SAT programs for students to use.
