Ali Abdi, PhD

Ali Abdi, PhD

Ali Abdi, PhD is an assistant professor in the department of electrical engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. His research interests include: stochastic processes, pattern recognition, and time series analysis; wireless communications, with special emphasis on modeling, estimation, and simulation of multiantenna wireless channels and system performance analysis; and blind modulation recognition.

Recent publications include: S. Wang and A. Abdi, “Low-complexity optimal estimation of MIMO ISI channels with binary training sequences,” to be published in IEEE Signal Processing Lett., 2006; S. Wang, A. Abdi, J. Salo, H. El-Sallabi, J. Wallace, P. Vainikainen, and M. Jensen, “Time-varying MIMO channels: Parametric statistical modeling and experimental results,” IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2006; H. Zhang and A. Abdi, “On the average crossing rates in selection diversity,” IEEE Trans. Wireless Commun., 2006; and O. A. Dobre, A. Abdi, Y. Bar-Ness, and W. Su, “A survey of automatic modulation classification techniques: Classical approaches and new trends,”  IEE Proc. Commun., 2006. He currently serves as an  associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology.

Abdi received his PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
