| NJIT Math Professor Issues Baseball Playoff Predictions

Bruce Bukiet, PhD, an associate professor of mathematical sciences at NJIT, has issued his baseball playoff predictions for 2004. The series between the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees should be the most hotly contested, with the Twins having a slight edge of 51 to 49 percent. “The Twins’ edge in pitching makes up for the Yankees’ dominance in hitting,” says Bukiet, an expert in numerical methods and mathematical modeling.
