Harold D. Deutschman, Ph.D, has been a professor of civil and environmental engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology since 1968. His research interests include urban transportation, transportation systems, simulation modeling in transportation planning, residential location decision making, transit planning and operations. In 2004, Deutschman was honored by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); the previous year he was named educator of the year by the North Jersey Chapter of ASCE. In 1992, Deutschman received national recognition for his teaching and mentoring efforts by the American Society of Engineering Education, and in 1999 he received the prestigious White House Award for Mentoring Minorities to Careers in Engineering, an award given to him by President Clinton. Selected publications include "Developing a New Agenda for Training of Civil Engineers," ASCE National Forum on Education and Continuing Development for the Civil Engineer, 1990; and "Attracting Civil Engineering Students for the 21st Century," ASCE National Forum on Education and Continuing Development for the Civil Engineer, 1990. He received his PhD from Northwestern University. |
