Alexander M. Haimovich, PhD

Alex Haimovich is a professor of electrical and computer engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology. His research interests include space-time codes and turbo space-time codes in MIMO communications, peak-to-average power problems in OFDM systems, topics in ultra-wideband communications, cooperative networking, and MIMO radar. He recently served as the Director of the New Jersey Center for Wireless Telecommunications, a state-funded consortium consisting of NJIT, Princeton University, Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology. He has been at NJIT since 1992. Prior to that, he served as chief scientist of JJM Systems from 1990 until 1992. From 1983-1990 he worked in a variety of capacities, up to senior staff consultant, for AEL Industries.

Haimovich recently served as chair of the Communication Theory Symposium at Globecom 2003. He currently is an associate editor for the IEEE Communications Letters and a guest editor for the EURASIP Journal of Applied Signal Processing Special Issue on turbo coding.

He received his PhD in systems from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989, his M. Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University in 1983, and his B.Sc. in electrical engineering from the Technion, Haifa, Israel in 1977.
