The Essex County Jail is a forgotten, historic gem tucked behind massive stone walls in Newark’s University Heights District. “Jailhouse Revival,” an eclectic exhibit of works by 33 area artists opening Oct. 21, 5-9 p.m., at NJIT, promises to breathe new life into this landmark, said Matthew Gosser, an adjunct professor at NJIT's New Jersey School of Architecture. The public is invited to view the exhibit weekdays, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., through Dec. 2, 2006, in NJIT’s New Jersey School of Architecture Gallery. Read the press release. |
