Lev N. Krasnoperov, PhD

Lev N. Krasnoperov, PhD, is a professor in the department of chemistry and environmental science at New Jersey Institute of Technology. His research interests include: chemical kinetics and thermodynamics of gas phase reactions; thermodynamics of free radicals and strengths of chemical bonds; kinetics of particle nucleation and growth; reactions in non-thermal plasmas; supercritical fluids as process media; and reactions, film deposition and nanoparticle formation from supercritical solutions.

Recent publications include: L.N. Krasnoperov, J. Peng, and P. Marshall. "Modified Transition State Theory and Negative Apparent Activation Energies of Simple Metathesis Reactions: Application to the Reaction CH3 + HBr --> CH4 + Br", J. Phys. Chem A. (2006), 110(9), 3110-3120; Y. Gao, I.M. Alecu, P.-C. Hsieh, B.P. Morgan, P. Marshall, and L.N. Krasnoperov.  “Thermochemistry Is Not a Lower Bound to the Activation Energy of Endothermic Reactions: A Kinetic Study of the Gas-Phase Reaction of Atomic Chlorine with Ammonia.”  J.  Phys. Chem. A,  ACS  ASAP Web release,  March 2006; and D. Johnson, L.N. Krasnoperov, S. Raoult and R. Lesclaux "UV Absorption Spectra of Methyl-substituted Hydroxy-cyclohexadienyl Radicals in the Gas Phase", The Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology-Section A. 2005, 176, 98-106.

Krasnoperov received his doctor of sciences in physics and mathematics (chemical physics) from the Institute of Chemical Physics, Moscow; a PhD  in chemical physics from the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion, Novosibirsk; and a diploma in physics and applied mathematics from Novosibirsk University, Novosibirsk.
