Frank Y. Shih, PhD, is a professor and director of the Computer Vision Laboratory in the department of computer science at New Jersey Institute of Technology. His research interests focus on image processing; computer vision; computer graphics; robot sensing; medical imaging; fuzzy logic; pattern recognition; neural networks; artificial intelligence and parallel processing. Shih received NJIT's Excellence in Teaching Award in 2003. Recent publications include: Digital Watermarking and Steganography (CRC Press, 2007); Y. Wu and F. Y. Shih, "Genetic algorithm based methodology for breaking the steganalysis systems,'' IEEE Trans. Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Part B, Vol. 36, No. 1, pp. 24-31, Feb. 2006; and W. Wong, F. Y. Shih and T. Su, ``Thinning algorithms based on quadtree and octree representations,'' Information Sciences, Vol. 176, No. 10, pp. 1379-1394, May 2006. Shih received his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Purdue University; his MS in electrical engineering from The State University of New York, Stony Brook; and his BS in electrical and computer engineering from the National Cheng Kung University Taiwan.
