NJIT's Board of Trustrees has approved a $287 per semester increase in tuition for all in-state full-time undergraduates beginning this fall. Full-time undergrads will pay $3,666 per semester for the upcoming 2003-2004 academic year, an increase of 8.5 percent. In-state, full-time graduate students will pay a $495 per semester tuition increase of 8.5 percent for a total of $4,810 per semester. There will also be a $10 increase per semester in existing fees for undergraduates, an increase of 1.7 percent since last year. Total undergraduate student fees for full-time undergraduate students will be $584 per semester. Graduate students will pay $7 more in fees per semester, a total of $574 and an increase of 1.2 percent. The increases are meant to keep NJIT's academic facilities at the cutting edge of higher education as well as keeping them accessible to all members of the university community. "In the budget development process this year, a concerted effort was made to enhance revenue, reduce expenditures and minimize tuition and fee increases," said NJIT President Robert A. Altenkirch. "We accomplished this by focusing on how to manage resources better." |
