On-site Assessment

The NJIT Police Department is scheduled for an on-site assessment as part of the accreditation process through the New Jersey Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission, which is administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.

The accreditation program requires agencies to comply with standards that represent the best practices in law enforcement. The accreditation process is rigorous and includes a close examination of the agency’s written directive system, operation and facility.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments to the accreditation assessors assigned to the on-site assessment by calling 973-642-4173 Wednesday, May 17, 2017 between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Telephone comments are limited to five minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the accreditation standards.

A copy of the standards is available for inspection at the NJIT Police Department, located at 154 Summit Street, Newark, N.J. The local contact is Sergeant Michael V. Villani, who can be reached at 973-596- 3119.
