Today, Purchasing equates to the Science of “Supply Management”. The ISM (Institute for Supply Management—formerly NAPM) defines Supply Management as “The identification, acquisition, access, positioning, and management of resources the organization needs or potentially needs in the attainment of its strategic objectives”.
