The TLC partners with the Colleges and Academic Departments on campus to provide tutoring services for students in first and second-year courses in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology, Humanities, Management, Engineering and AutoCAD. Students enrolled in Physics courses may receive extra help in either TLC or in the Physics Learning Center, located in Tiernan Hall - Room 401. Study groups meet each week to review material in key 200 and 300 level ECE courses. Students enrolled in upper level courses may request tutorial assistance for their specific class as needed.
TLC Athletic Academic Advisors' offices are located in the Learning Center. Student athletes have their study hall time monitored and take advantage of the tutoring services, workshops, and facilitation groups offered by TLC.
All Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Freshmen students are required to register for tutoring. Students form small study groups based on their class schedules. EOP students receive tutorial assistance from graduate and undergraduate tutors throughout the first year. TLC also provides support for the academic component of the EOP Summer Enrichment Program for incoming Freshmen.
Students in introductory courses who are performing below the established class average within the first month receive early warning notices from the Associate Dean of First Year Students. These students are required to meet with TLC staff to schedule individual and small group tutoring for the remainder of the semester to assist them in improving their academic performance.
