About the ENGAGE Program

The ENGAGE program (http://www.engageengineering.org/) is three proven and time-honored research-based strategies that have worked to enhance the learning environment and improve retention in the first two years of schooling.  The first two years is the key period in which engineering students are most at risk to change majors.  Although the ENGAGE program is focused on success for engineering students, the strategies apply to all NJIT students and the program aims its campus in-reach to engage all NJIT instructors.  The strategies will help improve and increase interactions between faculty and students;  illustrate problem solving and engineering concepts in courses by using everyday familiar objects; and improve students’ spatial visualization skills.

To learn more about the ENGAGE program please visit http://www.engageengineering.org/  or http://www.njit.edu/news/2011/2011-295.php. The Newark College of Engineering (NCE) at NJIT has been selected by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to participate as one of 20 universities and colleges across the nation in a new five-year program to keep students enrolled in engineering programs.
