New Jersey Institute of Technology Seeks Nominations for Inventors Hall of Fame NEWARK, August 7 - From the electric light bulb to the electric
guitar, New Jersey inventors have changed the world. Their work continues
in modern corporate laboratories as well as at kitchen tables. To pay
tribute to the state's inventing heritage, the New Jersey Inventors
Hall of Fame at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) sponsors a
permanent tribute to the individuals and corporations who have worked
to advance technology. Hall of fame nominations are taken from the public.
Among the notable members are Albert Einstein and Thomas Alva Edison.
Nominations are now open for the February 2002 awards. They must be
submitted by October 1, 2001. There are two award categories. The hall
of fame designation is for living or deceased inventors who have made
extraordinary contributions to the advancement of knowledge and human
welfare. The inventor of the year award is given to inventors whose
inventions are covered by current U.S. patents. All nominees must have
lived and/or worked on their inventions in New Jersey. To obtain nomination
forms, write to the New Jersey Inventors Hall of Fame, NJIT, 323 Martin
Luther King Blvd., Room 12 E, Newark, NJ 07102 or download a copy of
the nomination form at www.njinvent.njit.edu. NJIT is a public research university enrolling over
8,200 bachelor's, master's and doctoral students in 80 degree programs
