Robert H. Avery, J.D. has been promoted to the position of vice president and general counsel to NJIT. In this position, Avery will serve as secretary to the board of trustees while continuing to serve as the university's chief legal, labor relations and human resource officer. "Avery has served the university well for over 12 years in roles of increasing responsibility," says Fenster. Prior to working at NJIT, Avery, a resident of Princeton Junction, was associate general counsel at Ferris State University, Michigan. He holds a bachelor's degree and juris doctorate from Syracuse University where he earned Academic All-American Honors as a student/athlete. Henry J. Ross, Ph.D., was appointed to the position of senior program counsel to the president. Ross will provide program analysis and counsel to the president and senior staff concerning various policy initiatives of the university. Ross, a tenured professor of political science at Kean University, comes to NJIT from his most recent position as senior policy advisor for New Jersey's Office of the Governor. Ross, a resident of Branchburg, holds a long and distinguished record of service to the State of New J ersey and higher education. He has served a term as interim president of Kean University as well as been a member on both the executive committee of the New Jersey Association of College and Universities and the President's Council of the New Jersey State College and Governing Boards Association. Ross holds a doctorate in political science from Rutgers University and a bachelor's degree in political science from the City University of New York. NJIT is a public, scientific and technological research university enrolling

in 80 degree programs throughout its six colleges: Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey School
