The College Bowl, sponsored by the Association of College Unions International (ACUI), included students from NJIT, Rutgers-Newark, Fashion Institute of Technology, Essex County College, William Paterson University, Montclair State University and County College of Morris. Competition was intense at times, but NJIT came out victorious in most tournaments. Pritam Dodeja, Lodi, the 2000 ACUI national table tennis champion, won singles table tennis while Fady Massak, Dayton, took second place. In the doubles competition, the winning team of Pritam and Fady beat Rutgers-Newark for the gold medals. Pritam and Fady will be invited to participate in the ACUI national table tennis tournaments held later this semester in Baltimore, Maryland. The billiards competition, in which 30 students played in the double elimination tournament for 10 hours, was extremely tough. In the end, NJIT placed second in the women's division, with Lynda Makhloufi, Bloomfield, winning the silver medal. NJIT also placed fourth in the men's billiards. Jerome Cuff, Glassboro, placed first in the men's single bowling competition as well as first place in the all bowling events. NJIT won gold and silver in the chess tournament when Jesse Tarqui, Jersey City, took first place and Rich Livolsi, Bloomfield, took second. NJIT is a public, scientific and technological research university enrolling
more than 8,800 students. The university offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students
in 80 degree programs throughout its six colleges: Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey School
of Architecture, College of Science and Liberal Arts, School of Management, Albert Dorman Honors
