The award is given annually by NJIT's Newark College of Engineering to an engineering student who distinguishes herself academically while showing a deep commitment to the university. Kardos, of Cranford, is an Albert Dorman Honors College student with a grade point average of 3.314 in chemical engineering. She is recording secretary for the Society of Women Engineers and has served as managing editor and staff writer for the Vector, NJIT's student newspaper. Kardos is currently secretary of the Ambassadors Club; chair and editor-in chief of the Honors College newsletter; editor of Tiernan Express, a newsletter published by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers; and a member of NJIT's residence life judicial board. She is also a mentor for NJIT's Big-Sister program. Her hobbies are public speaking, writing and literature, chess, and playing the piano and violin. NJIT is a public, scientific and technological research university enrolling
more than 8,800 students. The university offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students
in 80 degree programs throughout its six colleges: Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey School
of Architecture, College of Science and Liberal Arts, School of Management, Albert Dorman Honors

architecture and building science, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, environmental
