New Jersey Institute of Technology Celebrates Women’s History Month

NEWARK, February 27--New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) celebrates Women’s History Month throughout March with events ranging from an original play to a lecture by Catalyst founder and chief executive officer Sheila Wellington. Catalyst is one of the most influential women’s think-tanks on women in business and advertising.

Running concurrently with the lectures and other events will be an art show, to be displayed from March 5 – 31, 2003, in the Hazell Student Center (second floor), featuring the work of three New Jersey women artists. The student center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m.-12 a.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.-7p.m.

The artists are Lydia R. Watson, of Scotch Plains, whose work have been displayed at the Atrium Gallery, Morristown; Mina Robertson, whose work has been on view at the Crossroads Theater, New Brunswick; and Edith Sirmons, of Nutley, who since retiring from Hoffman-LaRoche in Nutley, has immersed herself in learning the art of paper filigree called quilling. Sirmons has recently displayed her work at the Nutley Public Library.
