Executive Director Appointed For York Center

Daniel J. Watts has been appointed executive director of the Otto H. York Center for Environmental Engineering and Science, which comprises three research centers, a sustainable green manufacturing initiative, a technical assistance program and three international programs. Watts will monitor all center affiliated research programs and provide leadership for identifying and marketing new research funding opportunities.

Watts joined NJIT in 1983 and most recently was the director of the Sustainable Green Manufacturing Program and the deputy executive director of the York Center. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Indiana University and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, in London. He serves on the Conservation Committee of the Botanical Society of America and the Advisory Committee on Green Chemistry Educational Materials for the American Chemical Society.

Watts has a proven research record and is recognized internationally for his broad environmental knowledge. He has been instrumental in developing and teaching courses related to pollution prevention and environmental science and engineering on campus, via distance learning and through the National Technological University.
