Wendolowski pitched a complete-game, seven-inning, two-hit shutout against Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, March 12, in Fort Myers, Fla. In his first collegiate start, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound right-hander struck out four and walked one, and carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning of NJIT’s 11-0 victory.

The Highlanders went 4-3 on last week’s spring break trip to Fort Myers, and are 4-6 overall heading into Thursday’s home opener against Queens (N.Y.) College.

Men’s Volleyball Team Falls To Ball State

The Ball State University men's volleyball team scored six of the match's final seven points in a 3-2 (30-25, 26-30, 30-17, 28-30, 15-10) victory against NJIT in a nonconference game, Tuesday, March 13, at Entwisle Gymnasium. The match was a make-up from Monday night's weather postponement.

With the score tied, 9-9, in game five, Ball State (8-7) won a side-out on a kill from Doug Market. The Cardinals proceeded to score four consecutive points on the serve of Paul Fasshauer. NJIT earned a side-out on a service error to make the score 14-10, but another kill from Market on the very next point ended the match.

BSU had four players reach double-figures in kills, led by 21 from Market. Fasshauer had 17 kills and Amitai Sasson 11 kills without an error, hitting .647 percent, for the winners. Freshman setter Keith Schunzel had 65 assists and five blocks.

Senior Fernando Fuentes had a match-high 29 kills, eight digs and four blocks for NJIT, which was out-hit, .352 to .208 percent. Mark Sanford had 11 kills and hit .368 percent.
