Namunu. Meegoda http://www-ec.njit.edu/~meegoda/, civil and environmental engineering, is the lead author of a technical paper that was selected by the Environmental Multimedia Council of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as the Best Practice Paper. The paper, "A Pilot Scale Investigation of Cold Ex-Situ Vitrification," was published in the January 2000 issue of the ASCE Practice Periodical of Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste Management. The best practice paper was selected based on reviewer rating, and a nine-member awards committee. The award was presented during the World Water and Environmental Resources Congress, May 21, in Orlando, Fla. Meegoda also received the ASCE North Jersey Branch Educator of the Year Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the education of civil engineers.
