Campus Construction Update

Site plans will be posted at Cullimore Hall and the Hazell Center.

The campus center construction project has relocated the alumni staff to Guttenberg Information Technologies Center 2400 to secure the Wilson Alumni Center for removal of asbestos materials. The Wilson Alumni Center will then be demolished to facilitate a four-story building which will house new kitchen facilities, serving area, women's center, student offices and other campus functions.

The major steps to be undertaken in the next two months include:

  • A new Hazell Center loading dock will be constructed to accommodate
the first phase of the campus center construction.
  • Utilities will be disconnected at the Wilson Alumni Center and entrances
have been sealed with block to prepare for the asbestos abatement.
  • Asbestos will be removed from the Wilson Alumni Center and the building will be demolished.
  • The guard booth at Lot 7 will be moved out of the campus center footprint.
  • Approximately 18 parking spaces at the Hazell Center dock area will be eliminated. Reserved and handicapped spaces will be relocated within Lot 7.
  • Glass on the eastside of the Hazell Center will be removed and replaced with drywall to protect occupants during the first phase of construction.
Site plans will be posted at Cullimore Hall and the Hazell Center. Site plans will be posted at Cullimore Hall and the Hazell Center. In addition, as part of continuing improvements to the campus, eight underground oil storage tanks are being abandoned in place. There will be several dozen oil tankers and concrete slurry trucks in place for this project. Public Safety will be present in controlling activities at each tank site when required.
